Aspen is a 12 year old Quarter Horse gelding standing 16 hands high. This big guy is the definition of a schoolmaster. He has given many lessons, worked a few years at summer camps, and has even given pony rides and leadline lessons to special needs riders. Aspen has been around for years and just came back to us as his last rider was ready to move up and do some jumping. Aspen is reliable, steady, and absolutely knows his job. He will take care of any rider and always go around slow, steady, and safe. He has done local shows, trail rides, and all of the fun 4h classes. Aspen is now best suited for a non jumping home with a rider that enjoys the same things he does, going slow, relaxing walks out on the trails, and maybe some low level dressage. He would be the perfect starter horse, or for someone who is just getting back into riding and needs a steady, been there done that type to get their balance and confidence back.
In the ring, Aspen is gentle and steady. He is very well educated and has all of the buttons. He is broke both English and western, and neck reins, steers off the leg, has a nice stop, and has great transitions and his changes. Aspen picks up both leads from a walk, and has very comfortable and easy to sit gaits. He easily goes into a frame, or rides on a loose rein. He is unbothered by nervous or unbalanced riders and is patient as can be. He is the perfect slow speed, and always does what he's told. We call Aspen the Golden Retriever of horses.
On the trails, Aspen is relaxed and happy. He loves to hack out and will ride alone or in a group. He crosses water, is safe with traffic, and is unbothered by his surroundings. Any rider of any age or experience level can safely take Aspen on the trails.
In the barn, Aspen is polite and enjoys attention. He is a good boy for all of the usual barn activities. He has been painted by the kids at summer camps, used for demonstrations at therapeutic riding stables, and especially loves when you bring him treats!
We hold this horse near and dear to our hearts. If you follow our page you'll notice we don't normally have horses that require maintenance or have limitations, but Aspen has gone above and beyond proving his worth as a first horse, giving many riders, of all ages, the confidence boost they needed. We would love to find him the perfect, low impact, home where he can continue to be a confidence builder and best friend to his next family. We are happy to discuss his maintenance and vet records with folks who feel that Aspen would be a good match for them.
Aspen is available to be tried at our farm in Clover, SC by appointment.

Please take the time to read our Buyers Guide to answer any questions or concerns you may have.
Due to the increasing popularity of our horses, we can only hold a horse if a deposit is placed. All horses are considered available and will continue to be shown and advertised unless we have received a deposit. An appointment to see a horse will not hold them for you. Deposits are $1000 via PayPal and are NOT refundable for any reason. A deposit holds a horse for 5 days. Many horses have a waitlist of interested clients, so in fairness to everyone, this is a set policy.
