Rome is a 10 year old Quarter horse x Morgan cross standing 16 hands high. Rome is the type of horse that we are constantly getting requests for. He is safe enough for just about everyone, both in the ring and on the trails. He’s the perfect size for any rider, and can still carry your husband around for a Sunday trail ride. He is a super cute mover with the most comfortable gaits, and jumps around the cross country course with ease. Most importantly, he has the brain that everyone wants. Rome is tolerant, up for any adventure, forgiving of rider error, and gentle as can be both under saddle and on the ground.
In the ring, Rome is broke well both English and western. He knows basic lateral work, steers off the leg, neck reins, has a good stop, and knows how to go in a frame. Though he is just as happy plopping around quietly on a loose rein too! He could go show in the local hunters one day, do some dressage the next, and saddle up western on the weekend! He is a fun horse that can go between disciplines easily, making him a great choice for a family with multiple riders. Rome will pop over small jumps in the ring, with most of his jumping experience being on the xc field and out on hunter paces. He bravely jumps logs, coupes, walls, ditches, and more.
On the trails and off property, Rome is as good as they get. He will lead, follow, pony other horses, and ride alone. He is well versed in ranch work, and loves to be out of the ring. Rome came from a ranch in Texas where he was used to doctor, and sort claves. If your friends horse needs a confidence boost, Rome will lead the way calmly and bravely. If you need a confidence builder out of the ring, Rome is your man. He hops right into the trailer and is always ready to go with you on a new adventure. He never needs prep at new places, simply tack up and ride. We have taken Rome to various places to school and trail ride. He is the same horse in any environment.
In the barn, Rome is everyone’s favorite. He stands tied, and stands without being tied for that matter. He is safe enough for the children to groom, bathe, and lead. He is a good boy with all the usual barn tasks, and loves the attention he can get. In turnout, Rome goes out with mares and geldings and fits right into the middle of the pack. We don’t have any complaints about this guy.
Rome is a pleasure to have in our barn. He hasn’t put a foot wrong, no matter the task at hand. He always tries his best, is patient when new things are thrown his way, and has the best brain. He is not spooky, is the same ride if ridden every day or once a week, and has no quirks or vices.
