Arizona is a 5 year old Appaloosa x Quarter Horse gelding standing 15.2 hands high. To sum this horse up in one sentence is to call him a true professional. No matter where you take him, what job you ask of him, or what rider you put on his back, he is always putting his best foot forward. There is never any funny business, he steps out of the stall or off the trailer and does his job every time, safely and happily. Arizona is broke well both English and western, and even rides bridleless! You can take Arizona off property on a cold windy day, let the kids ride him in lessons, trail ride anywhere, attend clinics and try new things, and always know you have the most solid and dependable parter with you. Arizona is a horse with all of the brains, athletic ability, sense, and versatility that you could ever want. You can accomplish anything with a horse that is trustworthy, professional, and sensible in any situation. Whether you want to gain back confidence, get out and try new disciplines or activities, or hone in your skills, you can do it all with Arizona!
In the ring, Arizona is educated with a solid ranch type foundation. He was raised out west where he was exposed to all aspects of ranch work. This early education always carries over well into the ring. He knows all the lateral work, has a nice stop, neck reins, has good transitions, and picks up both leads. He works well of both seat and leg cues, and will ride in a frame or on a looser rein. Arizona has the athleticism and responsiveness to do any job, yet is still quiet and forgiving enough for the kids to ride in lessons and take on the trails. He knows basic dressage tests, and has attended a few working equitation clinics where he shined! He is super brave jumping both in the ring, and out on the cross country field. Most of his jumping miles are on the field and on hunter paces, he is smart with his feet, scooped, and is plenty brave.
On the trails and off property, Arizona is always my first pick. There is no terrain too rugged, or place too scary. He bravely carries his rider safely in any environment, and loves to explore! Steep hills, deep water, and more are no problem for Arizona. From his ranch upbringing, he has seen livestock, been roped off of, open and closed gates, pushed cattle, and more. He is dependable and level headed no matter if you are working cows or going on a leisurely trail ride with friends. He rides alone, in a group, and is the same on or off property. There has been no spooking, no silliness, and no concern that he will put a foot wrong across all of the places we've been, and tests we have put him through. He is the same ride, every time, no matter the circumstance, and that is something you can't train into a horse, they either have that or they don't!
In the barn, Arizona is polite and kind. He has impeccable manners and a gentle nature. He lives outside in a mixed herd, and gets along well with the other horses. When inside, Arizona is a good boy and very clean in his stall. Arizona is an easy keeper with no vices, quirks, or maintenance.
